Intro to Fabric Arts

Explore various sewing techniques through playful sewn craft projects using interesting materials and lots of imagination! Skilled instructors present new and exciting material in a warm, fun, engaging environment built to inspire. Classes emphasize planning, fine motor skills, design, and more through lessons in hand sewing, highly supervised machine sewing, weaving, and fiber art crafts using embroidery thread, yarn, fabric & other related items. Projects are designed to adapt to various levels of experience, keeping each student appropriately challenged.

Projects may include: stuffies, dolls accessories, wearable items, wall hangings, quilts, simple garments, and more.


Skills covered

  • sewing machine basics + safety

  • laying out basic patterns

  • pinning + cutting fabric

  • following basic project instructions

  • keeping an even seam allowance

  • sewn project design and construction

  • creativity in designing your own project
