Seamsters in kindergarten through 2nd grade are introduced to various sewing techniques through playful sewn craft projects. Students explore hand sewing, highly supervised machine sewing, weaving, and fiber art crafts using embroidery thread, yarn, fabric & other related items. Classes emphasize planning, fine motor skills, design, and more. This is a great class for beginners and improvers who are not new to machine sewing yet are still gaining confidence. Projects include things like toys, stuffies, accessories, wearable items, wall hangings, quilts, simple garments, and more. Projects are designed to adapt to various levels of experience, keeping each student appropriately challenged. Students learn and practice…
Sewing machine basics and safety
Laying out basic patterns and following instructions
Pinning, cutting fabric, sewing on the line
Sewn project design and construction
Creativity in designing their own projects
