100 LEVEL

100 Level courses get beginners age 5-12 excited about sewing with a variety of fun projects and themes. Beginning stitchers learn fundamentals of hand and machine sewing, project planing and construction, safe and proper use of studio tools and equipment, and much more. As students gain skills and confidence more challenging projects are introduced.

Students in 4th grade and above with some or no sewing experience have a choice between the craftier side of sewing in Junior Sewing 102 (4th-6th grade) and garment sewing fundamentals in Intro to Fashion Sewing 102 (4th grade and above). ITFS102 is a structured course with specific projects chosen to prepare students for 200 level fahion sewing courses.

200 LEVEL

4th graders and up with foundation skills acquired in Intro to Fashion Sewing (or equivalent) will love our 200 level courses! Advanced beginner seamsters build skills and confidence to sew garments on their own using industry sewing techniques. Each 10 week course centers on a 2-3 garment “capsule collection” allowing students to step into a designer role while getting a thorough introduction to each technique and skill.

200 level courses go step by step using the on trend, age appropriate FashionKit Patterns curriculum. Students focus on working with patterns and FashionKit digital instructions, woven and knit garment construction, safely using the sewing machine, serger and iron, and fashion illustration.
